Thomas Jacobs, PRM, FRM
Tom is currently pursuing a PhD in Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and recently completed a stint as an Economic Capital Specialist within the Risk Specialists Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Prior to his Doctoral studies, Tom was Managing Director and Head of Analytics for Bank of America’s Loan Portfolio Management group in Chicago. Previously, Tom was with BankBoston (prior to its merger with Fleet Bank) as Director and Head of the Financial Engineering Group from 1996 to 1999 following two years in the Global Financial Risk Management group. Tom has also been a Senior Systems Analyst with John Hancock Insurance and did a tour of duty as an Electronic Warfare Officer for the United States Air Force from 1986 to 1990.
Tom holds a MSc in Finance from Boston College, a MSc in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska, and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame. Tom’s professional designations include Professional Risk Manager from the Professional Risk Managers’ International Associations (PRMIA) and Financial Risk Manager from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Tom is a frequent industry speaker on risk management topics.
